Free Will and Awakening

When I went to see Papaji in India, Saint Germain asked me to give him a note that said, “Please take her beyond choice.” At the time, I did not understand why he would say this, as I knew Free Will to be a cosmic law that Saint Germain would surely not ignore. Here’s why he said it:

Humans have always had Free Will because the choices we make in life are our primary source of learning. There are no “wrong” choices, because no matter what we choose, there is always something that can be learned from what we experience. Choosing one thing over another is also how we expand our consciousness. If we choose loving thoughts and actions over hurtful ones, we become more aligned with the part of us that loves, and our vibration rises along with our consciousness. We become the “light” of the world instead of hanging out in the dark with a fearful, negative attitude towards life.

Making choices is what life is all about, so why would Saint Germain say “take her beyond choice”? Because when one Awakens, the “chooser” disappears.

Until the moment of Awakening, all choices are made by a “person” who has to decide “this over that.” The ego/mind collects information and compares all input to what is already stored in its data base. When a choice needs to be made, the ego selects the option that best fits given its collected data and whatever conclusions it has made about the particular options available.

“People” make decisions in a number of different ways. Some use the intellectual approach. They do research until they gather what they consider to be sufficient support for a point of view. Others decide from their “gut reaction,” deciding instantly without giving the matter any analytic thought. Some will ask for the opinion of someone they admire and then go along with whatever that person says. And then there are the “intuitives” who seek what is right for them by going within for an answer which does not come from the ego/mind. These folks might use helpful tools like kinesiology, or a pendulum, or channeling to help them make their choices.

When a “person” Awakens, the whole decision making process changes! Ego/mind is no longer included in decision making, because the separate identity of “person”, that ego/mind believed itself to be, no longer exists. When there is no “person” involved, decision making is easy. With no “chooser” there is no choice. Actions simply follow the “knowing” that arises from inner silence. And since no attention is paid to any mental chatter that might dispute this “knowing”, all actions taken are in divine order.

Intuitives might call this way of “Being”, “having a connection to one’s “Higher Self”, or “being aligned to divine will,” but neither statement is accurate. When there is no “person,” who is it that could possibly be connected or aligned to anything?

The very statement: “being connected to source” or “to one’s Higher Self” implies separation; there is a “me” and a “source” or “Higher Self” separate from me. In Awakened Awareness there is no separation at all. There is only ONE source and THAT is all that is. The “me” that ego claims to be, is only a mental construct, not the truth. When this is REALIZED, an awakening has occurred. So if you still believe yourself to be a “person,” with a past, present and future that you are concerned about, “waking up” must be your highest priority if you are going to graduate from “duality school”.
